Neighbor. Advocate. Organizer. Rooted in Faith, Moved by Justice

A lifelong resident of Prince George’s County, Leslye Dwight has been a member of the Hollaway Estates community for nearly 20 years. She is a mother, community advocate, and preacher of the gospel.

Why I’m Running

In a moment when unprecedented changes are reshaping our economy, our schools, and our neighborhoods, we need leadership that doesn’t have to learn how government works on the job.

I’m the only candidate in this race who has actually worked for Prince George’s County Government.

I’ve spent the late nights in the County Administration Building developing budgets that shape the future of our communities. I’ve sat before County Council defending those budgets—not just with data, but with a deep understanding of what those numbers mean for our families, our seniors, and our neighborhoods.

I helped launch CountyStat, a bold initiative to bring accountability, transparency, and best practices into how our local government measures performance and delivers for residents. This isn’t theory for me—it’s lived experience.

And I didn’t leave that experience behind—I took it with me into the community. I’ve used it to be a bridge between residents and government, helping to advocate for and resolve real issues facing real people.

I’m running because my experience offers the stability this moment demands—and because my track record in community has already delivered results.

Now, I’m ready to bring that same drive, discipline, and deep-rooted commitment to County Council—to legislate responsibly, serve transparently, and move change that actually improves people’s lives.

Built For This

Lifelong Resident

I’m a lifelong resident of Prince George’s County, shaped by its schools, its spirit, and its sense of community. A proud graduate of High Point High School, I know what it means to grow up in a place full of promise—and I’m committed to helping community thrive.

Rooted in Education

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Bowie State University, a Master of Science in Human Services Management from McDaniel College, and a Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary. I’m currently completing my Doctor of Ministry at Wesley Theological Seminary.

Service is in my blood

I was raised in a home where public service wasn’t just a job—it was a calling. My father served as an Army Reservist, and my mother spent nearly 40 years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Their dedication shaped my commitment to integrity, community, and impact.

Leadership & Impact

With over 20 years of combined experience in Prince George’s County government, nonprofit, and faith-based leadership, I’ve secured millions in funding for youth, education, and public safety initiatives. I’ve worked to close the academic achievement gap, strengthen local programs, and ensure fiscal responsibility at every level.

Ministry that moves

I am ordained clergy in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and serve as Minister of Social Justice at Community of Hope AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Tony Lee. My ministry focuses on faith in action—standing with those who are unheard, underserved, and ready to rise.

Ready to Serve…

As a preacher, I offer presence.

As a strategist, I deliver results.

As a neighbor, I listen—because everyone deserves a response and a resolution to the challenges they face.
